that's it for the ed show and the rachel maddow show starts now. >> thank you. one of the things that will happen in washington is we are going to start learning which senior members of the obama administration really only wanted to serve one term. is hillary clinton going to leave as secretary of state? is eric holder going to leave as attorney general? mr. geithner going to leave as secretary of treasury? the speculation is officially hot and heavy in washington as to who will stay on, who will leave and, of course, who will get the jobs of the people who do leave. everybody in washington is also now figuring out how they are going to work with president obama for another four years. how the politics of him earning a second term affects what he wants to do and how likely it is he is going to be able to do it. it probably was not an auspicious sign for that process when the president, right after his victory speech on tuesday night, right after he was done speak, as soon as he was done speaking, the night he wins a second term, after he gave that speech, he got

shawn hannity, rush limbaugh, and shultz, and rachel maddow. i started seeing earlier, getting e-mails from the pccc, which is the progressive change campaign committee, which saw the success of 2010 on the right and said we could do the same thing on the left. there is just more and more movement on the extremes, demanding in the party faithful to stay faithful. we still have primaries and republicans have to figure out a way to avoid todd akins and richard mourdocks. there is no increase in the christine o'donnell vote, the witch vote. the republicans had five seats in the last two cycles for the have sacrificed a seat by nominating sharon engle and christine o'donnell, and now the two this time. republicans are going to have to figure out how to do this. they are attacked as washington trying to tell folks in individual states to to nominate. they don't get involved, they don't play a role, and they just have to watch outside groups come in and give them lousy nominees. so i do think the republicans will be going through some soul-searching,

lots to be thankful for including my good friend, fine american rachel maddow who in this holiday season, we can say jennifer granholm, awesome! i'm always watching jennifer granholm here on current tv. however someone sent me a link to -- i just think this is a great summation of the election. rachel ma do you gives us 15 reasons to be thankful that romney lost the election. in our original -- exactly. i mean you really -- it is great to take a second to think of all of the layers. it is not like hee hee, we won. her 15 reasons we won't have a supreme court that will overturn roe v. wade. there will be no more scalias added to this court. number two we won't repeal healthcare reform. nobody's going to kill medicare and make old people in this generation or any other generation fight it out in the open market to get themselves health insurance. we won't do that. we're not going to give the 20% tax cut to millionaires and billionaires and expect cutting programs like food stamps and kids help. we're not going to make you clear it with your boss if you want to get bit control with the insu
